Trace

Trace came to us from Nor Cal Collie Rescue in August 2007. Since then, he has become the guardian of all creatures at the farm.

Maggie

Maggie

Maggie came to us from Yolo SPCA. Before we actually brought her home, they discovered she had a heart condition which would limit her life. The vet thought she only had one month to a year to live. We’d already fallen in love with her, so home she came.  It’s been three years and she’s doing great.  She receives holistic treatments from Cache Creek Vet. Services, which keep her chasing about the farm.

Lucky Dog

Lucky Dog

Lucky Dog is a Chihuahua and Jack Russell Terrier mix.  We weren’t looking for another dog, but she crossed our path while we were visiting the CETA Foundation at Phoenix Ranch, and she needed a home.  She is turning into a fine farm dog.  She can outrun both Trace and Maggie.  She is the most well-behaved dog I’ve ever owned.

The Minnie Mouse

The Minnie Mouse

Minnie Mouse is an east-coast rescue. When my daughter was visiting her grandmother in Massachusetts, a six-week-old kitten arrived at the back door.  Meghan wanted to bring the kitten home with her to California, but at the time we already had 2 cats and 2 dogs in a rental.  I said, no.  She was relentless, calling every day with reports on the kitten. Needless to say, the cat arrived on American Airlines. Thirteen years later, Minnie is enjoying her senior years on the farm, still catching the occasional mouse and standing guard over gopher holes.  (Minnie passed away in December 2009.  She is missed.)

Lilly

Lilly

Our Nigerian Dwarf Goats are Lilly and Lou. They are like hanging out with hyper-active kids. They can squeeze through anything, jump over anything, and teeter on a two-inch board. Their best maneuver is a skate-board style jump where they slam into a wall, punch off with their hooves, and launch themselves out of their stall.  I am forever amazed at their antics.
